The RO EDI water system integrates two core technologies: reverse osmosis and electro-deionization, making it the mainstream complete water treatment equipment for producing ultrapure water in industry. Reverse osmosis, as the main desalination unit, removes the vast majority of dissolved salts, colloids, organic matter, and microorganisms from the raw water. EDI, as a deep purification unit, further ion-polishes the RO permeate, achieving resin electrochemical regeneration through an electric field. This eliminates the need for acid/alkali chemical regeneration, replacing traditional acid/alkali regeneration mixed-bed processes and achieving continuous and stable production of high-purity ultrapure water.
Since the EDI system cannot directly treat high-salinity raw water, the permeate from the RO equipment is used as the feed water. The front end of the equipment is equipped with a complete pretreatment unit (multi-media filtration, activated carbon, softening, and security filter) to ensure long-term stable operation of the RO membrane and EDI module, avoiding the risks of membrane scaling and resin poisoning.
Foren, as a manufacturer of water treatment equipment, can upgrade to a dual-stage RO system according to water quality requirements, or add optional post-treatment units such as UV sterilization, polishing mixed-bed, and degassed membranes to further improve water quality.
The RO EDI water system employs PLC + touchscreen fully automatic control, enabling automatic start/stop, automatic membrane flushing, real-time monitoring of flow, pressure, and water quality, and fault alarm protection. It can be expanded with remote monitoring capabilities, requiring only routine inspections and maintenance, eliminating the need for 24-hour dedicated personnel, making it suitable for continuous production in factories. The equipment is equipped with high-pressure, low-pressure, water shortage, and overload protection; it strictly controls EDI influent indicators, pre-intercepting hardness, residual chlorine, and TOC to reduce the risk of EDI scaling and oxidation poisoning, extending the lifespan of core components.
The RO EDI water system is a compact device with a neat pipeline and valve layout; key components are standardized, making the RO membrane, EDI module, and filter cartridge easy to disassemble and replace; the equipment has a compact footprint, saving installation space compared to traditional mixed-bed solutions, and supports customized production rates from 0.25 to 100 T/H, adaptable to different scales from small-scale pilot projects to large-scale industrial production lines.
The operating cost of RO EDI water systems is controllable. RO membranes have a normal lifespan of 3-5 years, and EDI membrane stacks have a lifespan of 5-8 years. Only periodic replacement of the security filter cartridge is required, with no high chemical consumption. Compared to traditional mixed-bed systems, the overall long-term operating cost is lower. The system can produce water continuously 24 hours a day without interruption due to resin regeneration shutdowns.
RO EDI water systems can continuously produce ultrapure water and are suitable for industries such as new energy, pharmaceuticals, fine chemicals, electroplating, laboratories, testing institutions, and cosmetics.
